She has penned three novels in the Garnethill trilogy and another three featuring her character Patricia «Paddy» Meehan, a Glaswegian journalist. She also writes comic books, including 13 issues of Hellblazer for DC Comics. She has also written two plays, one of which she is adapting for the cinema.
