Cesidio Di Ciacca
Premio Gadda Giovani
Membro del Comitato Nazionale
Cesidio Di Ciacca, born 1954 in Cockenzie, a fishing village outside Edinburgh, attended Scotus Academy and graduated LLB (Hons) from Edinburgh University in 1975. He worked as a solicitor in private practice until 1994. Married to Selina and with two children, Sofia (21, who is an honours graduate in History of Art and currently studying for a law degree at Edinburgh University) and Giovanni (who is 12, with Downs Syndrome, which does not seem to limit his expectations!).
Since then, he has been an adviser to Scarborough Group International Ltd (an international property investment and development company) and a number of other companies in various industries. He is a non executive chairman of Chardon Management Limited (a hotel management company) and of Blairston Enterprises Ltd (an investment company) and is an executive director of Scarborough Partnership Limited and various other companies as well as Trustee of two charities.
Three of his gradparents were born in Italy (in Picinisco and Figliniano – both in the Terra Sancti Benedicti) and this has given him a love and an understanding of the country. He lives part of the year in Ischia and is currently developing a small luxury Apart-Hotel in Picinisco as well as conducting extensive research into the history of that area and into the causes and circumstances of emigration and the particular links between this comune and Scotland.
Family, reading (especially European Social History), music and travel are his main interests (but good company, good wine, the culinary arts and the occasional fishing match, game of golf, football match or shoot are appreciated).
