Emanuele Trucco holds a personal Chair in Computational Vision in the School of Computing at the University of Dundee.
In parallel to his scientific career, he has an active interest in music, art and literature. His cartoons and logos have featured in several publications, including the proceedings of international scientific conferences (e.g., European Conference on Computer Vision, British Machine Vision Conference, International Conference for the Study of Child Language), magazines and newsletters (e.g., British Machine Vision Association, Lowland and Border Pipers’ Society), and university publicity and lecture material (incl. University of Edinburgh, Heriot Watt, University of Dundee, University of Genoa).
He has played guitar, bass guitar, highland bagpipes and Scottish smallpipes in rock and folk bands since his teens and performed at international music and dance festivals, incl. the Edinburgh Folk Festival. He was the founder and first president of the Bagpipe Italian Group (BIG), which celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2008, served as Secretary and Treasurer of the Lowland and Border Pipers’ Society in Scotland, and played the Scottish pipes for Scottish country dancing for many years.
He co-authored with Max Manfredi Il libro dei limerick (Vallardi, 1994), illustrated by Serena Giordano, a collection of original limericks in italian.
