Niva Lorenzini is Professor of Contemporary Italian Literature and Head of the Italian Department at the University of Bologna. She was Visiting Professor and has given public lectures in many universities in the US (Brown, Yale, Harvard), at Trinity College, Dublin, as well as at the Universities of Glasgow, London, Oxford, Paris III, Pécs, Bruxelles, Dubrovnik, Edinburgh, Gand, Lyon. She is a member of the steering committee of the Gramsci Institute, Bologna, and of the ADI (Italianists Association). She is on the editorial boards of several journals, among them Il Verri. She was President of DAMS from 2004 to 2007.
