I very much enjoyed the show last night. I must admit I knew very little about Gadda – he was after my time when I was a student. But he is a fantastic writer with a wonderful command of words. I would have found it hard to follow without the surtitles!
My father was on the Italian front line in 1917-18, driving an ambulance up and down, often under enemy shellfire, and I have read The White War – so I was particularly interested to hear about it again almost at first hand from Gadda.
A brilliant performance keeping up that monologue for two hours. I was glad at the prize giving to see all the young people you have got involved in your initiatives. Well done!
