Manuela Bertone (A.M., Ph.D., Harvard University) is Professor of Italian Literature at the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis / Côte d’Azur.
Manuela has been a Member of the Editorial Board of the Edinburgh Journal of Gadda Studies since its foundation, in 2000. She is also on the Editorial Boards of the journals Cahiers de Narratologie, Cahiers d’études italiennes, and Ecritures.
She is the author of numerous essays on the 20th century, and has worked in particular on Carlo Emilio Gadda. Her latest essay on Gadda, La vergogna di Caporetto nel diario nascosto di Carlo Emilio Gadda, came out in the volume Il trauma di Caporetto. Storia Letteratura Arti (2018).
As part of the research project Les Italiens et la Grande Guerre 1915-1918/2015-2018, she co-edited the volume L’autre front / Il fronte interno. Art, culture et propagande dans les villes italiennes de l’arrière 1915-1918 (2018) with Barbara Meazzi, with whom she also co-edited the volume Curiosa di mestiere. Saggi su Dacia Maraini (2017).
